Things to do in Trysil — winter and summer

Trysil is best known for skiing, but the mountain is alive all year. Here is what you can do in each season.

Winter

November – April

Alpine skiing

More than 70 runs spread across four sides of the mountain, from wide beginner pistes to steep off-piste. Norway's largest ski resort.

Beginner areas

Separate, fenced zones for the youngest skiers with gentle lifts. Trysil is known as one of the Nordic region's most family-friendly resorts.

Cross-country

Over 100 km of prepared trails, from easy loops near the centre to longer mountain tours. Both classic and skate styles.

Ski school

Group and private lessons for all levels, including adult beginners. Worth booking ahead in the February and Easter peaks.

Summer

June – October

Trysil Bike Arena

One of northern Europe's largest mountain-bike areas, with flow trails and technical lines at every grade. Lifts carry you and your bike up.

Hiking

Marked routes from gentle forest walks to the climb up Trysilfjellet, with views over the border country.

Fishing

Nearby rivers and mountain lakes offer good fishing for trout and grayling. Fishing permits are sold locally.

Water park

An indoor water park gives families an alternative on rainy days — a reliable backup when the weather turns.

Tip

Want to fit in as much as possible in a short stay? Stay steps from the slope — then you spend your days on the mountain, not in transit.
